Department Overview
Department of Commerce was established in the year 1988. The Department of Commerce focuses on building sound foundation in theory and practice to transform students into corporate professionals by offering courses like B.Com and M Com that are highly relevant and job oriented in the modern business world. In the current scenario these courses have market potential throughout the world. The courses enrich the students with corporate skills through holistic approach.
- Commerce Graduates will possess a strong foundation in Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Computer Applications for employment in the industries or to pursue professional courses like CA, ICMAI, ACCA and ICSI etc.
- Commerce Post Graduates will be ready with a strong subject knowledge, professional ethics and practical decision making skills for a successful career in International Business, Entrepreneurship and Research.

- MOU with Indian Academic Research Association is entered to establish industry-institution collaboration. The Association agreed to provide guest lectures to the students and project guidance from their experts. They also agreed to provide on-campus training to the faculty members and motivate them for consultancy work through the association.
- MOU with Annamalai Capital Services is made with the objective to provide practical aspects of financial markets, encourage project works, providing practical training in the field of finance and capital markets and to attend NCFM exams. On the completion of the program, students will be awarded with merit certificate issued by Annamalai Capital Services.
- MOU with Gateway Software Solutions is made for the purpose of providing Value Added Programs (Advance Excel) for the students of Commerce Department. It is a 30 hours duration program. About the Department : B.Com (CA)
The Bachelor of Commerce in Computer Applications (B.Com CA) is a three-year undergraduate program that integrates the core disciplines of Commerce and Computer Science. Introduced in 2000, the course aims to equip students with comprehensive knowledge in areas such as accounting, finance, taxation, and business management, alongside practical skills in computer programming, software applications, and data management. The curriculum is carefully designed to meet the demands of the modern business and IT industries, combining theoretical concepts with real-world applications. Throughout the program, students are introduced to a wide range of subjects including Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Business Law, Income Tax, and Financial Management, which lay the foundation for strong commercial acumen. Simultaneously, the course offers substantial exposure to InformationTechnology through subjects like C/C++ Programming, Web Technologies, Database Management Systems, Tally and E-Commerce. These courses are aimed at developing the students’ technical competence, preparing them to manage and analyze business data, develop software applications, and contribute to IT-enabled business processes.
In addition to the academic curriculum, the program includes value-added courses such as Advanced Excel, Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, and Personality Development, which enhance employability and entrepreneurial skills. Students also benefit from seminars, workshops, industrial visits, and internships that provide practical insights into business operations and technological applications.
