About The Department

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at CMS College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore was started in the year 2009. The B.E (EEE) Program was duly approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai with an intake capacity of 60. The EEE department has been established with the firm commitment of developing and producing quality Electrical Engineers with high-technical knowledge and good practical basis, combined with leadership skills and decision making capabilities. The committed faculty and staff are fully geared up towards this end.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

The Programme Objectives of the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering are as follows:

To provide a strong background to the students in the core area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering so that they will be able to cater the requirements of industries.

To provide necessary training and create opportunities to the students and inculcate in them an ability to pursue higher studies and research in their area of interest.

To provide the necessary exposure to the students for them to excel in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology

Studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering will leads to potential careers in the Power sector, Robotics, Oil and Gas industry, Automotive Electronics and Bio-engineering. Career opportunities are also found in the Telecommunication industry, IT sectors, Transmission industries and small innovative private organizations.

Program Specific Outcomes(PSOs)

On completion of Electrical and Electronics Engineering program, the student will have the following Program Specific Outcomes.

  • Foundation of Electrical Engineering: Ability to understand the principles and working of electrical components, circuits, systems and control that are forming a part of power generation, transmission, distribution, utilization, conservation and energy saving. Students can assess the power management, auditing, crisis and energy saving aspects.
  • Foundation of Mathematical Concepts: Ability to apply mathematical methodologies to solve problems related with electrical engineering using appropriate engineering tools and algorithms.
  • Computing and Research Ability: Ability to use knowledge in various domains to identify research gaps and hence to provide solution which leads to new ideas and innovations.
